Podgorica, (MINA) – The first Montenegrin Colouring Books, with sights and most beautiful places in five Montenegrin towns, are made for all those who want to explore their country and have fun in a different way. Since May 12th, Montenegrin Colouring Books: Podgorica, Cetinje, and Boka Bay (Herceg Novi, Tivat, and Kotor) can be found in a dozen bookstores and shops in Montenegro.

There are five women behind the Communication Studio Cassiopeia’s project, and more detailed information on the colouring book can be found on crnogorskabojanka.me.

One of the authors, Adrijana Husić, said to the MINA Agency that the idea for the first project of Montenegrin Colouring Books originated from last year when everything was closed, and people were looking for different content to entertain themselves and their kids.

“The idea actually came from my sister and it went along with my idea to go into entrepreneurship and start my own communication studio”, explained Husić.

The whole story, as she added, was based on the fact that in Montenegro there was a shortage of interesting and authentic content, especially for children.

“And then, after a few months the Capital City, announced a competition for the support of creative projects. We decided to formalize the idea through the project”, said Husić.

As she said, after applying for the project, they received support for creating the first colouring book for Podgorica.

“When the project was approved, we were expected to publish the first book in December 2021. However, our impatience was stronger, so we decided to start the project early.”

According to her, when they started to prepare the colouring book for Podgorica, the ideas were flowing and multiplying.

“That’s how we came across the idea about Cetinje and Boka, which offer additionally interesting content,” explained Husić.

She said that three other women are also included, so the creative team is consisted of five of them.

“Zombijana is the illustrator who made the drawings in the colouring book, as well as my friends Ana and Nataša, who are known in the domain of communications, and design. Each of five of us has a long professional experience,” said Husić.

When the idea about colouring books came to life and when they started selling, Husić said that they were happy that colouring books weren’t recognized only as entertainment for the youngest, that is for children 3-10 years old, but adults enjoy them too.

Also, as she said, there were comments that the drawings were a bit too difficult for children to colour, “but our idea was to encourage children to develop imagination.”

“Certain drawings need to be finished, there are a lot of lines, and that is how children develop their motoric skills, especially at a time when pretty much everything is digitalized,” said Husić.

Husić also said that the special thing about these colouring books is that each drawing is followed with a text, so they are also educational for children, as well as interesting for adults.

When we asked will there be colouring books of other Montenegrin towns available soon, Husić replied that there is a whole set of colouring books they want to make, and in about a month or two, they will go forward with four additional colouring books.

“Some will be thematically connected to towns, but we plan on broadening the concept. However, all colouring books will have the thread connecting it to Montenegrin history, culture, heritage,” said Husić.

She also added that it they found it very important that shops and bookstores saw the value of these colouring books.

“They can be found in around a dozen shops, but you can also purchase them online,” reminded Husić.

She pointed out that the main goal of the colouring books is to entertain and encourage both children and adults to research their environment, the country they live in, from the earliest age.

Husić added that in this way, children are encouraged to think, develop, and take care of the environment they live in.

“Add the town your colours,” concluded Husić.
